Before & After School Care in Doon

Coverage on both ends of the school day, so your workday works. Mornings start calm, afternoons make room for homework, snack, and real play outside.

Ratio 1:15Group of 30Ages 4 to 12 years

School-age care fills the gap on both ends of the day. We open at 7am so you can get to work, and we cover the after-school hours until 6pm. School-age groups run at the ratios the Act sets for this age, and the tone is different from the younger rooms: more independence, more choice, more space to be a kid after a day of sitting.

Mornings are unhurried. Children arrive, have breakfast if they need it, and ease into the day. Afternoons make room for homework first, then snack and a long outdoor block. We are not a second school. We are the part of the day where children get to move, build, and decompress.

What this program is, in practice

Both ends of the day

Before-school from 7am and after-school until 6pm, so your commute and your workday actually fit.

Homework, then play

We make space for homework with support nearby, then get children outside to move and reset.

School partnerships

We coordinate with nearby Doon-area schools for drop-off and pickup. Tell us your child's school and we will confirm the logistics.

Camp days covered

PA days, March Break, and summer roll into full-day camp care, so a day off school is not a day off work for you.

A day in the before & after school room

  1. 7amBefore-school arrival, breakfast, and quiet play.
  2. Walk or drop-off to school partners (varies by school).
  3. School day.
  4. After-school pickup, snack, and a check-in.
  5. Homework time for those who want it, then a long outdoor block.
  6. 6pmPickup.

A rhythm, not a stopwatch. The room flexes to the children in it on any given day.

Questions parents ask

Which schools do you serve?

We coordinate with schools in the Doon and Pioneer Park area. Tell us your child's school on the waitlist form and we will confirm drop-off and pickup logistics for that school.

What are the before and after school hours?

Before-school care starts when we open at 7am. After-school care runs until we close at 6pm. You can use one end of the day or both.

Is there time for homework?

Yes. The afternoon makes room for homework with an educator nearby, before snack and outdoor play. We support homework; we do not run a second classroom.

What happens on PA days and holidays?

PA days, March Break, and summer become full-day camp care for enrolled families, with the same outdoor focus. See the PA Day and March Break Camps page for details.

Is school-age care covered by CWELCC?

Under the current rules, CWELCC applies to children under six, so school-age care sits outside it. The school-age daily rate is on the Tuition and CWELCC page.

What is the ratio for school-age children?

School-age groups run at the ratios Ontario's Child Care and Early Years Act sets for this age range. The room is staffed to that ratio before children arrive.
