Frequently asked questions

The questions parents ask us most, answered plainly. If yours is not here, send us a note or book a tour and ask in person.

Getting started

Where are you located?

We are in the Doon neighbourhood of south Kitchener, close to the Grand River corridor and a short drive from Pioneer Tower and Conestoga College's Doon campus. The exact street address is confirmed when you book a tour.

What are your hours?

We are open Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm. Drop off any time in the morning and pick up before we close at 6pm.

How do I get a spot?

Book a free tour, then join the waitlist for your child's age group and target start date. There is no fee to be on the waitlist.

Can I tour before deciding?

Yes, and we recommend it. Tours run during a regular day so you can see real rooms and real educators at work. In-person and virtual tours are both free.

Programs and ages

What ages do you take?

From infants under 18 months through school-age children up to 12, including before and after school care and camps.

What are your ratios?

We run at the ratios Ontario's Child Care and Early Years Act sets: one educator for every three infants, one for every five toddlers, and one for every eight preschoolers.

Are your educators qualified?

Yes. Our educators are Registered Early Childhood Educators, and they stay for years, which keeps the same familiar faces with your child across the year.

How much time do children spend outdoors?

Outdoor time is part of every day, weather permitting in proper gear. Our preschoolers often spend a couple of hours outdoors most mornings.

Do you offer part-time care?

It depends on the room and availability. Tell us the days you need on the waitlist form and we will let you know what is possible.

Tuition and CWELCC

Do you participate in CWELCC?

Yes. We participate in CWELCC, which lowers daily fees for children under six. Current reduced rates are on the Tuition and CWELCC page.

What does care cost?

Post-CWELCC under-six rates start around $22.50 per day for preschool. Use the calculator on the Tuition and CWELCC page for daily, weekly, and monthly figures by room.

Is school-age care covered by CWELCC?

No. CWELCC applies to children under six. School-age before and after care and camps are priced outside the program.

Is there extra help with fees?

Fee subsidy is a separate, income-tested program through the Region of Waterloo that can lower costs further on top of CWELCC. If cost is a barrier, ask us and ask the Region.

Daily life

What does a typical day look like?

A rhythm of arrival and play, a morning gathering, a long outdoor block, lunch, rest, and afternoon learning and play. See A Day at Our Daycare for the hour-by-hour version.

Do you provide meals?

Meal arrangements vary by room and age. We will tell you clearly what is included and what to pack for your child's program.

What should my child wear?

Clothes that can get dirty, indoor shoes, and weather-appropriate outdoor gear including boots and splash pants. We go outside in most weather.

How will I know how my child's day went?

For infants we log feeds, sleeps, and changes. Across all rooms, educators talk you through the day at pickup and reach out when something is worth knowing.

Health and safety

When should I keep my child home?

Keep your child home with a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, an unexplained rash, or symptoms of a communicable illness, and any time they are too unwell to take part in the day. See our illness policy guide for details.

How do you handle allergies?

We take allergies seriously and manage them carefully at the room level. Tell us about your child's allergies at enrolment so we can plan for them.

Is the centre secure?

Yes. Access is controlled, sign-in and pickup are managed, and we only release a child to authorized adults. We will walk you through our security on a tour.

Are you licensed and inspected?

Yes. We are licensed under Ontario's Child Care and Early Years Act, which means set ratios, health and safety requirements, and inspections. See Safety & Licensing.

Admissions and waitlist

How does the waitlist work?

Join the waitlist with your child's age and target start date. Priority generally goes to siblings, then to children who match a specific opening's age and start date.

Is there a fee to join the waitlist?

No. There is no fee to be on our waitlist. Join early, especially for infant care, since spots are limited by ratio.

Do siblings get priority?

Where space allows, yes. Tell us on the waitlist form if you have a sibling already with us or on the list.

What happens after I tour?

If it feels like a fit, you join the waitlist for your room and start date. When a spot opens that matches, we reach out to confirm enrolment. See Admissions for the full flow.
