About us

A Doon centre for Doon families

We are a licensed early learning centre in the Doon neighbourhood of south Kitchener. We built this place around a simple idea: young children learn best when they spend real time outdoors, with the same trusted adults, in a setting that respects how they actually grow.

Why we exist

Doon is the right place for nature-anchored early learning, and that is not a slogan. The Grand River corridor runs along the neighbourhood. Pioneer Tower has watched over the river since 1926. Children here grow up knowing what a trail looks like in October. We decided to build a centre that works with that, instead of keeping children inside under fluorescent light all day.

We are also a centre for working families. Doon and Doon South are full of dual-income households, many of them commuting up Homer Watson toward the tech corridor. Our hours, our outdoor focus, and our honesty about cost all come from understanding the families we serve, because we are part of this neighbourhood too.

What we believe

Outdoors is not a reward

Time outside is the spine of the day, not a break from learning. The trail and the seasons are our curriculum, weather permitting in proper gear.

The same faces matter

Our educators stay for years. The toddler who arrives in September is still with the same teacher in June, because consistency is how trust is built.

We say the real numbers

Ratios, capacities, hours, and cost, in the open. We would rather tell you the truth than sell you a feeling.

Childhood is not a race

We prepare children for kindergarten by building real readiness through play and projects, not by turning four-year-olds into students.

Licensed, and proud of the floor it sets

We are licensed under Ontario's Child Care and Early Years Act. That means set ratios, health and safety requirements, and regular inspections. A licence is the floor we build on, and it is what lets a Doon family choose nature programming without giving up the oversight a licence guarantees.

Our team and the family behind the centre will introduce themselves properly once we open our doors. Until then, the best way to know us is to come and walk through. You will meet the people who will know your child by name.

Come see it for yourself

The best way to know if we are right for your family is to walk through during a regular day. Your first visit is free.
